FRESH AND WILD KAVA

Our Kava comes from a remote village, in the blue mountains of Viti Levu, Fiji.

There is a dwindling population of only about 70-80 inhabitants in the village, but plenty of fertile land for cultivating various crops. The villagers are almost entirely self sufficient, growing their own produce - cassava, dalo, water melons, corn, sugar cane and Kava.

Surrounded by virgin rain forests and crystal clear rivers, there are little or no modern influences, and contact from the rest of civilisation is limited due to the rough tracks that lead in or out of the villages. There are no hospitals close by, and so the villagers rely primarily on traditional herbal medicine. Kava is just one of the many plants they grow for both medicinal and ceremonial uses.

During the harsh cyclones the villagers hide in near-by caves, and life in the village continues unchanged, as it has for many previous generations.

We have been working closely with the villagers to cultivate and export quality kava. We do not use any pesticides or any other chemicals. Made entirely from the lateral roots, our Kava contains the highest concentration of kavalactones, the active principles responsible for muscle relaxation and the reduction of anxiety and tension.

Our Kava is harvested by hand, sun dried and milled to a fine powder.  The fresh ground Kava is shipped the same day by air.

We are very keen to ensure that our kava should be of the highest quality!
